STILL LIFE: FRUIT/VEGETABLES
" The good , the bad and the ugly"
Actually the 1st subject is photographed appealing and appetizing through use of background and lighting and composition. The 2nd photo is that subject changed in some way and the 3rd photo is unappealing or unappetizing.

BODY PARTS
In black and white photography, students were to zoom onto a body part to the point of abstraction. The use of strong and varied light positions will create high contrast images with surprising results.

Love the Boston Photos!

ReplyDeleteKatherine Powers-
ReplyDeleteLips black and white body image: I loved the use of the black background in contrast to the lighting on the lips, the focus of the picture is on the outline of the lips. The image was in great focus and you can see the lips in great detail.
The orange with design: The simple background of the image allows your eyes to go directly to the orange. The intricate design carved into the orange was the point of interest. The orange's design has symmetry that is the same on both sides. This is very difficult to do but Katherine did a great job.
Katherine didn't go on the Boston field trip so she doesn't have any pictures in this category.

Sarah Bonica, in your black and white mouth the view point is good. Its at eye level of looking into someone's mouth. Also the lighting isn't to harsh which makes the picture look good. Your boston pictures came out really good and the leading lines show a lot. Also the creativity is good the way you took the picture. Your fruit pictures are cropped in a unique way and the background makes the fruit stand out more. Your Goldsworthy pictures show good natural light and good exposure. - Anna Nielsen
ReplyDeleteHannah Bradley's Pictures,
ReplyDeleteBoston Picture: i like the door nob picture you took in Boston. I like you how you used birds eye view on the picture. I also like how you didn't make the door nob the main focus of the picture.
Another Boston pictures i like it the trees. i like how they are intertwined all together. They are the main focus of the picture and it makes me think of a tree house being build.
GOOOOD JOB HANNAH!
-Katie Neil
(hannah only posted her Boston pictures.)
Izzy Berton, your black and white picture had a very good contrast of black and white. I liked how you can see the body, then its black, and then you can see more of the body. It was a good choice of a body part. Your goldsworthy was creative. I liked how you chose a worms eye view.I liked how you incorporated the flowers, branches, and the two different color apples. I liked the fruit photo because it was two kinds of fruit. Also the fruit on the right was focused, and the other picture was in the backround. THe fruit was glorified by the effect of adding water to it. THe fruit picture you changed was very creative. IT looked very cool cut in half. The third picture, with the nails in it was a very creative idea. I liked the boston picture with the building, because you used rule of thirds. I like how the picture is still sean threw the leaves, using leading lines. THe picture of the tree was good because leading lines, and the backround was good. Brian O'Connell

ReplyDeleteLarissa Andrade,
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the tree in Boston is unique because of the worm point of view showing the tree bottom up and it expresses the theme of the message. The message is how the uniqueness of the tree and the colors of the tree. It also expresses how it is different than other trees around Boston.- Justin Reidy
Katie Neil- My favorite picture of yours was your Boston picture under the bridge. I like the contrast of the right which is green and dark with the lawn and then the left which is light and blue with the sky. It focuses on the bridge and he nature around it making it very appealing and with great background. -Cam Foley

ReplyDeleteJustin Reidy: The fruit pictures uses a good viewpoint and attracts you to the apple and makes the apple look very appealing. Also the water on the apple draws your eyes to the apple and makes it look appetizing. The body part photos uses a good black background that draw your eyes to the body part. Also the use of harsh lighting in the photo is good because it causes great shadows to the picture.

ReplyDeleteApple:
This photo is really creative and I really like your approach of putting woodchips in the apple. I like how the picture focuses on the top of the apple and the green is really vibrant. The viewpoint of looking down at the apple is very effective.
Body Part:
I like the contrast in this photo between black and white. This picture is creative and I like the harsh lighting you used. I like how it lacks a distracting background, the dark black really makes the hand stand out.
Boston:
I really like the reflection in the water. There is good symmetry in the picture. The natural lighting really adds to the mood of the picture.

Livvy Kinzel,
ReplyDeleteI really like your body part picture. It has a good use of lighting, there is black white and grey. My favorite Boston photo of yours is the one with the bridge because it has good use of leading lines.
-Aylish Lynch
Aylish Lynch, I really liked your boston pictures and the way you focused up close on the image. I thought it was cool how you cropped the picture of your door and made it just that triangle shape. I also really like how clear the image is of your duck. -Olivia Kinzel
ReplyDeleteCathryn Blair: For your Boston photo of the leaves, I love the focus. The blurred out background gives the photo a cool effect. Also, there is a great use of color and brightness. For your Fruit photo of the top of the apple with the white background, the lighting is perfect. It is extremely clear and has goof focus on the water and color of the apple. Also, the photo is perfectly cropped. For your Goldsworthy, the color stands out a lot. The focus on that one leaf also really stands out. All of your photos are very good and it looks like you worked hard on them. Good job :)
ReplyDelete-Katherine Powers
Katie Neil- Your Goldsworthy photo and design are very well constructed and detailed. I like the contrast between the pavement and the pink of the flowers. The green leaves and gravel are also a nice touch and the lighting gives good detail.
ReplyDeleteCam Foely- Your goldsworthy photo is extremely creative and I especially like the pile of rocks that the plant comes out of. The apple in the center also draws the viewer's eye in. The background could be better but overall its a quality photo.
